Long COVID can look very different from one person to another. Fatigue, brain fog, shortness of breath, poor sleep, headaches, digestive changes, muscle or joint pain, and reduced stamina may continue long after the initial infection has passed.

Traditional Chinese Medicine views recovery from a prolonged illness as a process of rebuilding rather than simply eliminating one symptom. Depending on the individual, TCM may consider changes in Qi, Blood, Lung function, digestion, fluids, sleep, and overall vitality.

Nutrition can also play a supportive role. Foods and traditional ingredients such as ginger, citrus fruits, apples, and honey provide nutrients and plant compounds and can be incorporated into a balanced diet when appropriate. Ginger and honey, for example, have long histories of culinary and traditional use for digestion and respiratory comfort.

But there is no single drink, herb, or food proven to cure Long COVID. A homemade mixture of ginger, honey, apple cider vinegar, tangerine, and apple should be viewed as food and nutritional support—not a treatment for the condition.

A holistic recovery plan may consider nutrition, hydration, sleep, appropriate physical activity, stress management, acupuncture, and medical care according to the individual’s symptoms and tolerance.

Long COVID reminds us that recovery does not always end when an infection ends. Sometimes the body needs time, nourishment, appropriate care, and a gradual path back to strength.
